Good post-care helps the product settle in the joint, limits soreness and swelling, and gives the treatment the best chance of providing lasting relief. This guide explains what to expect and how to care for the joint after an injection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Post-Care Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After an injection, the treated joint needs a short adaptation period. Walk gently around the house and avoid prolonged standing, running, jumping and heavy lifting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ice:<\/strong> apply a cold pack wrapped in a cloth for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, several times a day, to reduce soreness and swelling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Injection site:<\/strong> keep the bandage on for a few hours and keep the area clean and dry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Showering:<\/strong> a shower is usually fine the same day or the next day. Avoid baths, hot tubs, saunas and swimming pools for at least 48 hours, or as advised by the clinician.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Medication:<\/strong> follow the clinician&#8217;s advice for pain relief. Acetaminophen is often suggested; ask before taking anti-inflammatory drugs or restarting anticoagulants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hydration:<\/strong> drink enough water to support recovery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to Resume Regular Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most patients can return to light daily activities the day after the injection. Low-impact activities such as walking, stationary cycling or swimming can generally resume after 48 hours, once the injection site has closed. If it increases instead, contact the clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs You Should Call Your Doctor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contact the clinic or seek medical attention if any of the following appear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increasing pain, redness or warmth around the joint after 48 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fever or chills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significant swelling or a joint that becomes hot and very painful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discharge at the injection site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing (call 911).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These symptoms are rare, but they need to be assessed quickly.
